Welcome to Belpre, Ohio, the second permanent settlement in the Northwest Territory situated on the beautiful Ohio River. From the summer concert series Music in the Park to the Belpre Homecoming to the Apple Butter Stir-Off the City of Belpre offers year-round activities for the elderly and young alike.
If history is your passion, visit the Farmer’s Castle museum and learn all about the beginnings of our area. If Christmas is your season and you enjoy our spectacular lights display go to the Holiday Lights building and assist the wonderful volunteers who make it happen. For the sports enthusiast our parks offer walking tracks, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a new handicapped accessible swimming pool. Our Senior Citizen Center is always abuzz with activity.
Our civic organizations and volunteers work all year to provide activities and fund projects in our city. They also fund several of the scholarships for our graduating high school seniors.
There are several ways to be involved in local government. By attending school board and city council meetings you can be informed and offer input on how to better our community.
Belpre has the opportunity to grow and improve if we work together. With the economic climate as it is now, we must explore all prospects for new business. Some of our longest established businesses are planning to expand. Our growth and success must come from within the city boundaries. This is why so much work has been done on the zoning issues. Belpre offers an active rail system, river access, and with the completion of the Corridor D Bridge entrance to our city is easier than ever.
Our wonderful park facilities will play an important part of our future. The expansion of Civitan Park with the Riverfront Project will be a major part of Belpre’s future. Your city will then have one of the most beautiful river landings and amphitheaters in Ohio.
We have several fliers in the city building regarding activities in the area as well as the Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce, which is right next door to us.
Again, welcome and if I or any of my staff can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call 740-423-7592.
