The Marietta/Belpre Health Department serves the consolidated health district of the cities of Marietta and Belpre. Our mission is to protect and improve the health, safety, and well-being of our communities by providing quality public health services. Our vision is “One Team, One Goal: HEALTHY COMMUNITIES!”
The Marietta/Belpre City Health District has its basis in Ohio Revised Code and is governed by a Board of Health, whose members are appointed by the mayors of both cities. State law requires the Board to report and take measures to control disease, enforce state public health laws, and promote health and well-being within Marietta and Belpre. It is responsible for the health district’s budget and must employ a health commissioner to serve as the chief executive officer of the agency.
Health Commissioner Anne Goon, MS, RD, LD, is responsible for administering the public health programs of the district, managing day-to-day agency operations, and performing functions and duties imposed by law and rules, regulations, and orders of the Board of Health and the Ohio Department of Health.

Childhood Immunizations
The Marietta City Health Department’s immunization clinic is going through some changes, due to a change in the Ohio Department of Health’s vaccine program. In the past, we have received vaccine for free from the Ohio Department of Health. Unfortunately, this is changing and we now need to privately purchase vaccine for our immunization program. Due to these high costs and requirements from The Ohio Department of Health, we will need to see your child’s insurance card at each visit and your insurance will be billed for your child’s immunizations. The Ohio Department of Health does still offer vaccinations for children with no insurance.
All required vaccines are offered at the Marietta City Health Department. Medicaid and most insurances are accepted. To see if your child’s vaccination record is up-to-date or for more information about childhood immunizations, please call 740-373-0611.
